The Microsoft operating system is designed in such a way that various games and programs require separately installed libraries. If one of the included files is damaged or missing, an error may occur when you try to launch the game.
What is this file?
As already mentioned, Windows OS consists of separate dynamic libraries. The latter are divided into various files, including executable DLL components. In this case we are talking about api-ms-win-shcore-scaling-l1-1-1.dll.
How to Install
Now let’s move on to the most interesting part and, using a specific example, let’s look at the process of correct installation:
- First, using the button attached a little below, we download the archive with the data we need. We unpack the contents and, depending on the Windows architecture, copy the files to one or another folder. When declaring the appropriate request, we provide access to administrator rights.
For Windows 32 Bit: C:\Windows\System32
For Windows 64 Bit: C:\Windows\SysWOW64
- Go to the search tool in Windows, find the command line, right-click on the launch shortcut and select the option to work with administrator privileges. Using the operator
cd
go to the directory where you just copied the DLL. We register viaregsvr32 api-ms-win-shcore-scaling-l1-1-1.dll
.
- Now you can restart your computer and try to launch the game or program that was crashing before.
You can check the bitness of the installed copy of the Microsoft operating system using “Win” + “Pause”.
